Coronation Hall

Coronation Hall is a heritage-listed building located in Newtown, a suburb well-known for its diverse and unique community. It has cafes and restaurants, pubs and theatres, and shops selling everything from fashion and furniture to books and bicycles. Newtown hosts a number of annual festivals as well as a community market every Saturday.

The Hall

Coronation Hall is a multi-purpose venue. The main hall can seat 150 people theatre-style, 140 people at table seating. It is also set up as a dance studio, with a polished natural timber flooring, mirrors and ballet barre.

Regular hire 'prime time', school days after 3pm and weekends:

  • $38 per hour for the first 5 hours of rental
  • $35 per hour for the 6th to 10th hour
  • $32 per hour for every hour thereafter

Casual hire 'prime time':

  • $45 per hour for the first 5 hours
  • $40 per hour for the 6th to 10th hour
  • Negotiable rate extra hours

Regular hires non-prime time - weekdays before 3pm and school holidays:

  • $26 per hour

Casual hires before 3pm weekdays and school holidays:

  • $30 for the first 20 hours of rental
  • $25 per hour for the 21st to 30th hour
  • $20 per hour for hours in excess of 30.

Provision of other services such as storage attracts a small additional fee

It takes less than five minutes to walk to the hall from the station and King Street bus stops.

Is there catering?
We do not provide catering, however you are free to eat and drink on the property.

Can we smoke at the hall?
Coronation Hall is a non-smoking venue

Are we allowed to have alcohol at the premises?
Consumption or selling of alcohol is not permitted.

Can I view the hall before I hire?
Yes, you can view the hall in person, please contact us to arrange a date and time. Otherwise you can also view our hall gallery page.

When is the hall available for hire?
Contact us through our enquiry form, phone number or email address and mention your intended booking times to arrange availability that best suits you.

Are any deposits required for hire?
Yes, a bond will be required in case of any damage, or if the hall is not left in clean condition after the hire.
For regular tenants a key deposit is required.
Deposits must be received before the day of hire and are fully refundable if conditions are met.

What types of parking are available at the hall?
Only public street parking is available behind and around the building and adjacent streets.

What types of public transport are available?
The hall is very close to public transport. There are bus stops along King St and the Newtown train station which are all within 5min walk to the hall.
